Job Details 

The Gerald Auto Group is searching for a Human Resources Assistant to join the corporate office team in North Aurora, Illinois.  The responsibilites for this new role involve assisting management with various administrative processes related to hiring, the management of certain employee benefits and terminations, as well as assisting with a few administrative payroll tasks.  The Human Resources Assistant will work with the Payroll Manager and Senior Payroll Administrator and have interaction with others in the administrative management team including the Office Managers, the Compliance Manager, and the CFO.  We see this new role as an opportunity for someone to grow with the Group over coming years.   

Fundamental Responsibilities

  • Assist in the management of the "TalentNest" database by facilitating timely updates of candidate status and maintaining fresh postings
  • Assist with candidate screening processes
  • Facilitate new employee onboarding activities (welcome letters, new hire registrations, and HR benefits website training) to ensure employees gain an understanding of company policies and procedures, benefit plans and enrollment provisions
  • Process employee termination documentation requirements
  • Help administer health and welfare plans including enrollments and terminations, possibly assist with billing reconciliation
  • Assist employees with various requests such as vacation time verification, resetting HR related systems passwords, updating demo vehicle records, and providing answers to benefits inquiries
  • After some experience, act as liaison with insurance carriers and foster effective relationships with client representatives
  • Monitor department accuracy including vacation tracking, new hire onboarding, termination processing, benefit related invoice remittances, etc.
  • Assist with some bi-weekly payroll input details when payroll staff is on vacation
  • Aid in annual open enrollment period during 4th quarter of each year.  Coordinate enrollment meetings with benefits providers, arrange for distribution of materials from carriers, and assist with communicating changes to employees along with benefits provider representatives.  Work with payroll team to processes changes within deadlines.
  • Acts as a resource for all dealership departmental managers to ensure their understanding and compliance with HR policies and regulations. 

Qualifications

  • Auto dealership HR experience a positive, but not required
  • Strong interpersonal skills are essential
  • Must have computer skills - knowledge of Excel, Word, and able to quickly learn new web based systems 
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • Excellent verbal/written skills
  • Attention to detail is a must
  • Experience administering employee health and welfare benefit plans is a positive
  • Knowledge and understanding of health insurance regulations, plan designs and third party record keeping/administration is a positive
  • SHRM certification or desire to attain such certification is a big positive
  • A natural curiosity, a passion for learning and long-term growth is a big positive
