Human Resources Manager

Job Details 

The Gerald Auto Group is searching for a Human Resources Manager to join the corporate office team in North Aurora, Illinois.  The Human Resources Manager will be responsible for the overall administration of Payroll and Human Resources functions and work with the Payroll team as well as the administrative management team, which includes Office Managers, the Compliance Manager, the Director of Accounting and Finance, and CFO, to provide organizational support and counsel to management. 

Fundamental Responsibilities

  • Review weekly payroll for all departments.
  • Coordinates preparation of quarterly payroll tax forms.
  • Administers health and welfare plans including enrollments and terminations. Processes required documents through payroll and insurance providers to ensure accurate record keeping and proper deductions.  Processes monthly billings from insurance providers. Reviews billings for accuracy, codes and advances for payment. Resolves discrepancies with carriers, payroll and the company.
  • Acts as liaison with various insurance carriers and fosters effective relationships with client representatives.
  • Administers “Talentnest” and job postings.  Assists with recruitment activities, interviews, and evaluates candidates for select positions at headquarters.  Maintains records related to same.
  • Facilitates new employee onboarding activities to ensure employees gain an understanding of company policies and procedures, benefit plans and enrollment provisions.
  • Review department HR processes and monitor for accuracy including vacation tracking, new hire onboarding, termination processing, benefit related invoice remittances, payroll processing, schedule reconciliation, etc.
  • Manages annual open enrollment period during 4th quarter of each year. Arranges for distribution of materials from carriers, assists with, communicating changes to employees and arranges for on-site representation by providers. Coordinates employee benefit presentations. Processes changes within deadlines.
  • Acts as a resource for all dealership departmental managers to ensure their understanding and compliance with HR policies and regulations. Keeps management advised of potential problem areas, recommends and implements solutions as appropriate. Provide certain payroll related reporting as requested.
  • Coordinates year-end reporting needs - checklist includes:  401(k) reports, ACA compliance, W-2 forms, tax rate table updates.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in business, human resources, or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred. 
  • HRCI or SHRM certification. 
  • Minimum of three years experience administering employee benefit plans in the health and welfare areas.
  • Experience administering 401(k) retirement programs.
  • Auto dealership HR experience a positive, but not required.
  • Must have computer skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Excellent verbal/written skills.
  • Attention to detail is a must.
  • Strong interpersonal skills are essential.
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of insurance regulations, plan designs and third party record keeping/administration required.
  • Familiarity with COBRA, ERISA, FMLA and related state and federal regulations required.
