Entry-Level Automotive Parts Counterperson

Job Description

The Entry-Level Parts Counterperson assists retail customers, shop technicians, and phone inquiries with basic automotive parts needs while learning dealership cataloging and inventory systems. Working under the guidance of experienced counter personnel and the Parts Manager, this role supports daily stock receiving, warehouse organization, and essential customer service operations.

Schedule

  • Monday - Friday 8:00 - 5:00 
  • Lunch 12:00 - 1:00

Customer & Counter Assistance

  • Assist retail customers and shop technicians with routine parts inquiries in a friendly, professional, and efficient manner.
  • Answer incoming phone calls to provide basic price quotes, stock availability, and general product information under senior staff guidance.
  • Learn and apply related part recommendations to assist customers with complete repair solutions.

Inventory & Warehouse Support

  • Replenish assigned inventory stock daily and keep warehouse shelves clean and organized.
  • Notify the Parts Manager of out-of-stock items, low stock levels, or depleted shop supplies.
  • Assist senior counter staff in locating parts from outside sources or placing emergency orders when needed.

Operational & Administrative Duties

  • Assist with billing internal parts requests onto service repair orders as directed.
  • Notify service advisors and customers when special-ordered parts have been received.
  • Receive payments from retail customers or ensure charge account sales tickets are properly signed.
  • Assist with processing returned parts for credit verification.

Workplace Maintenance & Professional Growth

  • Keep front and rear counter areas clean, orderly, and professional.
  • Clean and maintain computer terminals, printers, and workstation areas daily.
  • Actively participate in available dealership and manufacturer training programs to gain product knowledge and career advancement.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Basic automotive knowledge of vehicle components and terminology. 
  • Prior experience in aftermarket or dealership auto parts is required, Kia or Hyundai experience is a plus.
  • Ability to read, write, and comprehend English is required. Ability to speak or comprehend Spanish is a plus.
  • Ability to perform basic math calculations (addition, subtraction, multiplication).
  • Ability to carry out detailed written or oral instructions and follow standard operating procedures.

Physical Demands & Work Environment

  • Ability to lift up to 60 lbs independently, or up to 150 lbs with team assistance. Able to work standing on your feet at a computer terminal for extended periods.
  • Primarily indoor, climate-controlled counter and stockroom environment, with occasional outdoor activities.

Benefits

  • Pay range for this position: $42,000 - $65,000/yr (Exact compensation will vary based on several factors including, but not limited to, skills, experience, and education)
